Welcome to this quiet secret garden dedicated to the delicate and powerful art of Haiku.
More than just a three-line poem known for its 5-7-5 syllable pattern, a haiku is a window into a moment. It’s a single breath holding a universe of feeling, cut by a moment of ‘aha’.
Haiku
a single ladybug
crawls across a small, still hand.
the whole world is here
frozen food aisle.
he turtles up, I stand guard.
let cold gawkers pass
over there, your gaze
meets mine in understanding—
no space between us
peace every step
as the masters invite,
I fall on my face
leaving no footprints
chasing the moon’s silver thread,
wild thoughts in my head
stars in abundance
the sky’s promise of no end,
this life-fueling count
a live-wire in rain,
wishing to be the soft cloud
not the overcharged
Moments Shared
Josh’s Haiku
• • •
Fly on the window
yearns for the bright world beyond
its transparent cage
• • •
Wrinkled reflections
of pines and dragonflies, and
also the vast sky!
• • •
Clear winter evening
eating roasted broccoli
bumpy on my tongue
• • •
Empathy allows
two strangers to see what’s real—
over Zoom no less!
Thank you for sharing your haiku 🙏
Feeling Inspired?
These small poems are born from paying close attention—to our children, to our relationships, to our own minds, and to the tiny moments that make up our days. Your unique perspective is perfect for this form.
Your Prompt to Try:
Notice: What is one thing you are feeling, seeing, or hearing right now? (e.g., the weight of a blanket, the hum of a fridge, the pattern of rain).
Connect: How does that moment connect to your inner world or your child’s?
Contain: Shape it into three short lines (5-7-5 syllables, if you like).
We can’t wait to read the moments you capture. Share your haiku with us by emailing hello@heyteachy.blog.
